The four Arneson brothers who were born in Hatton. ND. This photo was taken in Minneapolis when moving back to Decorah in 1887. Theodore, Henry, Clarence, Fred. Can you imagine the toddler in the big white collar living to age 10372?

Mary Elizabeth met Robert Kautz (b. 29 Jun 1918) at church and were married later. They have visited in Decorah often, especially at Nordic Fest. Now retired, they live in the Chicago area.

Henry dropped the name Arneson and was known as Henry Olaf Morton.

Arneson, Joseph “Bert” and Alice (Jacobson)

Joseph Bertram “Bert1’ Arneson was the eighth child of Ole Tolef and Inger (Tobiason) Arneson. He was born 24 Aug 1895 in Decorah. He moved with the family to Chicago in 1904. Bert graduated from Crane Technical High School in 1915 and in Jun 1918 he graduated from Illinois Dental College with a degree in Dental Surgery. He was inducted into the medical corps in Nov and served about 3 months at Camp Ogalthorpe, GA. After discharge he opened a dental office in Chicago. He had his dental office in Elmwood Park for 46 years. Bert retired in 1964. He died 14 Oct 1969.

On 18 Jun 1921 he married Alice Cleone Jacobson (28 Mar 1898-16 Jun 1986). Alice was the daughter of Carl and Emma Jacobson of Wittenburg, Wl. She graduated from Lutheran Ladies Seminary in Red Wing, MN.

She studied voice and piano at the American Conservatory in Chicago, and also took graduate studies. Alice taught piano and voice at Gale College, Galesviile, Wl. She was a soloist in Chicago and the suburbs and taught piano and voice.
